- GALICIAN CRAFTS FAIR – ARTESANÍA DE GALICIA -

In 2021, the outbuildings of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Cadeiras hosted the first Galician Crafts Fair in the Ribeira Sacra. Following its initial success, the fair has become an essential annual gathering for the sector.

The initiative, organised by the Xunta de Galicia with the support of Sober Town Council, aims to promote the Artesanía de Galicia brand, boost local commerce and give visibility to traditional heritage crafts and trades. This fair typically takes place in August, often during the third weekend, although there is no fixed date.

Around twenty artisans from various disciplines take part in the event. Visitors can explore and purchase an array of handcrafted creations, including wooden items, ceramics, traditional pottery, toys, costume jewellery, fine jewellery, leather goods, clothing and fashion accessories.

In addition to the commercial exhibition, the fair offers complimentary workshops suitable for all ages, introducing participants to tapestry weaving, pottery wheel throwing or basket weaving. Live musical performances also complete the programme, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
