In June 2024, Modesto Trigo, a native of Gundivós, opened the doors of his house museum in his home village, which now also serves as his permanent residence.
Regarded as one of today’s most prominent contemporary painters, Trigo is known for his work where hyperrealism blends with surrealist elements, attracting a large and diverse audience.
This acclaimed painter, who has exhibited in countries across the globe, including the United States, Mexico, and China, and who is also a university professor, has decided to return to his roots in the house where he was born.
The project, which is still developing, is an ambitious cultural centre that will host a range of art and cultural workshops. These sessions will be led by professionals the painter has met over the course of his distinguished career.
Gundivós hosts his permanent exhibition in a space that will also showcase works by other artists and a small ethnographic museum. The centre will include areas for classes, workshops and even accommodation for those wishing to join its courses.
